Pure Storage, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tax Director, Domestic and Global Tax Provision. This position reports directly to the Head of Tax and will be responsible for overseeing the global tax provision process and managing domestic income tax compliance. The role is a key leadership position within the corporate tax team, supporting quarterly and year-end income tax provisions, ensuring compliance with domestic tax regulations, and leading various tax-related projects.
SHOULD YOU ACCEPT THIS CHALLENGE...
- Lead and manage the preparation and review of quarterly and annual global tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740, including stock-based compensation, uncertain
tax positions, financial statement presentation, and footnotes. - Oversee the U.S. tax compliance process, including the preparation of tax returns, extensions, and estimated tax payments, while managing relationships with external
service providers. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and complete information is reflected in US tax provisions and tax returns.
- Direct special projects such as R&D tax credit studies, state and local tax planning, and international tax projects.
- Conduct and oversee research on complex tax issues, providing guidance and preparing technical documentation to support tax positions.
- Partner with business leaders, tax, finance, treasury, legal, and external advisors on various business and tax planning matters, ensuring alignment with the company’s
strategic objectives. - Develop and implement procedures and automation to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the tax function.
- Oversee property tax compliance and audits, ensuring timely and accurate reporting and management of property tax obligations.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, including supporting SOX 404 testing and maintaining related documentation and processes for US income tax.
- Manage income tax audits, assessments, and inquiries from tax authorities.
- Lead ad hoc tax projects as required, contributing to both domestic and international tax planning and compliance strategies.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BRING TO THIS ROLE...
- 12+ years of corporate tax experience, with a strong background in Big 4 firms and/or corporate tax departments.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Tax, or Finance required; CPA or Master’s in Taxation strongly preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of U.S. domestic (federal and state) income tax and ASC 740 accounting for income taxes, with a proven track record in managing global tax provisions.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor a high-performing tax team.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple complex projects with competing priorities, delivering results with minimal supervision.
- Proven ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with stakeholders across Accounting, Finance, Legal, HR, Sales & Service, and Business Operations teams globally.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills, with a strong attention to detail and a strategic mindset.
- You will be based in Santa Clara, CA. As this is an office-centric role, you are expected to be present in the office for 3 days a week. As outlined in Pure's Hybrid Work Policy, there will be variations over periods of time, depending on business need.
The annual base salary range is: $200,000 – $320,000.
Salary ranges are determined based on role, level and location. For positions open to candidates in multiple geographical locations, the base salary range is reflective of the labor market across the applicable locations.
This role may be eligible for incentive pay and/or equity.
