Business Strategy at Pure

What makes this team unique in contrast to other opportunities? Here at Pure Storage employees get a much wider exposure to strategy development and market execution. This team is closely aligned with both the Sales and Finance organizations and presents strategic guidance directly to top management. Business Strategy works closely with product management, engineering, finance, marketing and many other teams to develop partnership strategies, influence product vision, and establish go-to-market plans. The successful candidate will have 360 visibility to all aspects of business management - from strategic planning to deal execution, from initial strategic idea to full go-to-market implementation.

Role & Responsibilities 

We are looking for a highly talented strategy professional with exceptional problem solving skills to join our Business Strategy team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing commercial policy and growth initiatives across Pure Storage’s EMEA theater and occasionally for initiatives that touch the whole company.

 

What You Will Be Doing...

We are looking for a highly talented commercial professional with exceptional problem
solving skills to join our Business Strategy and Finance teams. The successful candidate will
be responsible for managing commercial decision making, growth initiatives and financial
metrics within Pure Storage’s LATAM business, and occasionally for initiatives that touch
the whole company.
This role is both strategic and tactical: it supports daily as well as
strategic decision making.
The role will require timely collaboration between multiple,
passionate stakeholders for urgent, time-sensitive decisions.
Be the go-to Business Partner in cross-functional teams of Sales, Finance, Legal and Product
Management - shaping and analysing large and complex deals to maximise key business
metrics.

Implement Business Development Strategies

Analyse business development approaches and strategies to determine their best use within the market.
Develop long term range goals and objectives for market penetration
Develop and support country go-to-market plans to increase market share
Update business development strategies in line with market and industry trends
Use Sales tools for accurate forecasting of current and future business
Ensure profitable growth
Identify gaps and work with stakeholders to bring to closure
Maintain a confident, well informed point-of-view to challenge conventional or
entrenched views
Review suitability and implementation of company programs and business models
 
Manage Commercials

Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to finalise all terms and conditions related to
contracts and agreements.
Negotiate specific terms of product and service offering
Collaborate with decision makers in the organisation
Be accountable for decisions on pricing and investments
Support approach to sales opportunities
Use a variety of styles to persuade and negotiate
 
Drive Business to Win

Position the organisation’s unique selling propositions and differentiators based on
market and competitor knowledge.
Understand common deal patterns and drive pricing and monetisation strategies to
win deals
Manage complex deal engagements, creatively structure and model deals and
coordinate internal approvals for them 

Sales Finance

Guidance on finance aspects of deals collaborating with supporting teams as needed
eg payment terms, Product availability and expansion.
Expense to Bookings management and reporting,
Partner with the RVP on improving the financial health of the business by leveraging
reporting available eg Expense:Bookings, Productivity metrics and pipeline growth.
Revenue accounting guidance in collaboration with International Sales Finance
Management of local headcount control and suggestions for investment to ensure ROI

 

What You Will bring To The Team...

Strong communication skills
Fluency in Spanish and English, and ideally proficiency in Portuguese
Great business acumen and exceptional problem-solving skills, seeing a challenge
through to the end
Collaborative and open style which is proactive and service oriented
Strong analytical and critical thinker with the ability to solve complex problems
Can-do attitude, ability to quickly get up to speed with complex new topic areas, and
capable of driving insight to tangible action plans
10 years of experience, preferably in the high tech industry, of which 2+ years of
experience in commercial management, 2+ years of experience in a deal desk, product
management, sales finance or comparable function
Ability to analyse & recommend the best course of action for complex business
situations, including pricing and contractuals
Knowledge of Storage industry and Storage as a service is highly desirable
Ability to gain and maintain credibility with senior management
Strong and effective verbal and written skills
International / regional travel is required on a regular basis
 

EDUCATION
Quantitative undergraduate degree (e.g. business, finance, economics, science,
engineering, or a related field)
MBA highly beneficial
