We are currently looking for an experienced Lead Speech and Language Therapist, who can provide overall support for the clinical leadership of the service. This post is based in South East London , which is easily accessible via public transport.

About the role:

As a Lead Speech and Language Therapist, you will be working in both a 19-bed Highly Specialist Cognitive-Behavioural ward and a Neurorehabilitation ward with 18 beds. Providing specialist treatment to patients with physical and cognitive impairments resulting from an acquired / traumatic brain injury.

Your main responsibilities as a Lead Speech and Language Therapist:

  • Lead and manage the Speech and Language team, ensuring effective delivery of the highly specialist SLT service.
  • Plan and prioritise a complex clinical caseload.
  • Provide advanced specialist Speech and Language Therapy assessment and treatment of communication and swallowing.
  • Take a lead role in diagnosis, problem formulation and planning of rehabilitation programmes within the MDT.
  • Provide intervention as part of an MDT approach and lead and implement MDT service developments.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of interventions using valid and reliable outcome measures and adherence to UKROC Database measures
  • Ensure effective and timely communication at all levels (with patients, families, the MDT and external agencies).
  • Develop and deliver in-service education and training programme for the wider MDT.
  • Keep people safe from harm and protect their human rights.

What we are looking for in a Lead Speech and Language Therapist:

  • HCPC registration
  • Postgraduate training in dysphagia
  • Ability to manage a complex case load independently with proven expertise in the field of neurorehabilitation
