Position Overview: We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Consultant in Adult Psychiatry to join our team in Dudley. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in providing clinical leadership and expertise in adult mental health, supporting the delivery of comprehensive psychiatric services to individuals in the local community. Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing expert psychiatric assessment and diagnosis for adults with a wide range of mental health conditions, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, and personality disorders.
  • Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based practices and clinical guidelines, incorporating pharmacological, psychological, and social interventions as appropriate.
  • Providing leadership and clinical supervision to multidisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists-in-training, psychiatric nurses, psychologists, and social workers, to ensure high-quality and coordinated care delivery.
  • Participating in multidisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and clinical reviews to contribute to the development and review of patients' care plans and treatment goals.
  • Providing education and support to patients and their families/caregivers on mental health conditions, treatment options, and strategies for managing symptoms and promoting recovery.
  • Collaborating with external agencies, including primary care providers, community mental health teams, and voluntary organizations, to facilitate integrated care pathways and improve access to services.
  • Participating in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and research activities to enhance the quality and effectiveness of mental health care provision.

Requirements:

  • Medical degree and completion of specialist training in psychiatry, with full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and inclusion on the Specialist Register for Psychiatry.
  • Substantial post-qualification experience working as a Consultant Psychiatrist in adult mental health services, with demonstrable clinical expertise in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate multidisciplinary teams and engage effectively with patients and stakeholders.
  • Commitment to delivering person-centered care and promoting recovery-oriented practices.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and best practices in adult mental health care.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call duties and attend meetings and training sessions as required.
