Position Overview: We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Consultant in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry to join our team in Sheffield. In this role, you will play a crucial role in providing clinical leadership and expertise in child and adolescent mental health, supporting the delivery of comprehensive psychiatric services to young people and their families. Key Responsibilities:
- Providing expert psychiatric assessment and diagnosis for children and adolescents with a wide range of mental health conditions, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders, and behavioral disorders.
- Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based practices and clinical guidelines, incorporating pharmacological, psychological, and social interventions as appropriate.
- Providing leadership and clinical supervision to multidisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists-in-training, psychiatric nurses, psychologists, social workers, and occupational therapists, to ensure high-quality and coordinated care delivery.
- Participating in multidisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and clinical reviews to contribute to the development and review of patients' care plans and treatment goals.
- Providing education and support to young people and their families/caregivers on mental health conditions, treatment options, and strategies for managing symptoms and promoting recovery.
- Collaborating with external agencies, including schools, primary care providers, and community mental health teams, to facilitate integrated care pathways and improve access to services.
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and research activities to enhance the quality and effectiveness of child and adolescent mental health care provision.
Requirements:
- Medical degree and completion of specialist training in child and adolescent psychiatry, with full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and inclusion on the Specialist Register for Psychiatry.
- Substantial post-qualification experience working as a Consultant Psychiatrist in child and adolescent mental health services, with demonstrable clinical expertise in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate multidisciplinary teams and engage effectively with young people and their families.
- Commitment to delivering person-centered care and promoting recovery-oriented practices.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and best practices in child and adolescent mental health care.
- Willingness to participate in on-call duties and attend meetings and training sessions as required.
