Position Overview: We are currently seeking an experienced and compassionate Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry to join our esteemed team. As a Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in providing expert psychiatric care to older adults, contributing to the enhancement of mental health services, and promoting well-being for our aging population.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and evaluations of older adult patients.
- Develop personalized treatment plans based on evidence-based practices and clinical expertise.
- Provide specialized psychiatric care, including medication management, psychotherapy, and cognitive assessments, to address the unique needs of older adults.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including geriatricians, nurses, psychologists, and social workers, to coordinate care and ensure holistic support for patients.
- Lead and participate in case conferences, team meetings, and clinical supervision sessions to review patient progress, discuss treatment strategies, and optimize outcomes.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of service improvements and innovations to enhance the quality and effectiveness of psychiatric care for older adults.
Qualifications:
- Medical degree from a recognized institution.
- Completion of specialist training in Psychiatry and eligibility for inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register.
- Extensive experience and expertise in providing psychiatric care to older adults, with a focus on Old Age Psychiatry.
- Strong clinical skills in conducting psychiatric assessments, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of developments in the field of Old Age Psychiatry.
