Currently, we are seeking a Band 6 Occupational Therapist with expertise in Respiratory Care to join our dynamic team in London.

Job Description:   The role will require strong neuro rehab skills,  discharge planning skills, the ability to work autonomously under pressure, and a sound clinical understanding of falls, cognitive impairment, and common pathology in acute medicine such as COPD, bronchiectasis. This would also suit an OT with neuro skills as they may need to support with rehabilitation of post ICU step down, prolonged ICU stay and has ICU acquired weakness. The role would suit an OT with interest and experience within these areas.  Essential criteria:  HCPC registration and qualified OT status. Neuro- rehab skills, Discharge planning skills, the ability to work autonomously under pressure, and a sound clinical understanding of different respiratory condition, cognitive impairment, and common pathology’s related to frailty syndrome. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients with respiratory conditions to determine their occupational therapy needs.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to the unique goals and abilities of each patient.
  • Implement evidence-based interventions and therapeutic activities to improve respiratory function, promote independence, and enhance overall well-being.
  • Collaborate closely with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, and respiratory therapists, to ensure coordinated and holistic care.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families on managing respiratory symptoms, adapting lifestyle behaviors, and optimizing functional abilities.
  • Monitor and evaluate patient progress regularly, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation in accordance with professional standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Minimum of 2 years of post-qualification experience, with specific experience in respiratory care preferred.
  • Strong clinical assessment and therapeutic skills, with a focus on promoting independence and maximizing functional abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and engage with patients and their families.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and evidence-based practice.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK without sponsorship.
