Position Overview:
- To provide specialised assessment and interventions to adults with complex medical presentations as an autonomous lone practitioner in the community setting.
- To monitor, evaluate and modify treatment and management for patients in order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of intervention.
- To ensure accurate and evaluative records of treatment and patient care are maintained in accordance to professional and service standards.
- To be responsible for own practice and accountable for all aspects of Occupational Therapy treatment and care delivered to patients accepting responsibility for a designated caseload ensuring prioritization where appropriate.
- To have specialist knowledge and to ensure the use of outcome measures to measure the efficacy and effectiveness of treatment.
- To assess and recommend equipment to assist/maximise individual patients’ functioning and independence, including prescribing and ordering equipment as required via the equipment loan service.
- To advise, instruct and teach patients, relatives, carers and other professionals to promote understanding of the aims of Occupational Therapy and to enable the patient to self-manage their condition and optimize their potential.
- To assess the ability of individual patients to provide informed consent to treatment, working within a legal framework with those patients who lack the capacity to consent.
