An opportunity has become available for a Band 6 Physiotherapist to join a well-established Acute medicine Service within our client, NHS Trust, based in Mersey and West Lancashire. This post is to start immediately, offering full-time hours for an initial 6-month period. Respiratory Physio skills are desirable but not essential

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working within an acute setting and discharge support, as well as general ward experience. As an acute medicine Physiotherapist, the postholder will have a solid understanding of the musculoskeletal and nervous systems, as well as the effects of illness and injury on the body. They will have experience working with patients with acute medical conditions such as heart attacks, strokes, and infections and will use their expertise to help them regain function and mobility. Experience required: Essential – acute medicine, desirable: haematology/oncology/palliative care.

Duties within the role will include:

  • Functional and cognitive assessments
  • Implementing appropriate intervention
  • Discharge planning
  • Referral of patients for further rehabilitation
  • Demonstrating safe use and fitting of equipment
  • Helping patients with lifestyle management

To be considered for this role you must:

  • Hold the relevant degree/qualification
  • Have previous experience in a similar role (within an acute setting)
  • Be HCPC registered
