Pulse is proud to offer a new vacancy as a Specialty Dr in Old Age Psychiatry with section 12 approval for one of our key NHS Trusts based in Leeds.
This amazing opportunity is working in a 21-bed older adult female mental health unit.
The job will be well supported by an excellent and supportive MDT including a medical team. They will be responsible, alongside the ward team, for the assessment and management of females over the age of 65 presenting with acute mental health problems. Given the nature of the work, there will be some responsibilities in relation to the Mental Health Act such as review of requirements for ongoing detention as an S12-approved doctor. Medical support includes a full-time consultant, 0.5 another SAS doctor and representation at tribunals and managers’ hearings either 2 x FYs or 1 x CT and 1 x FY. Postholders will have an opportunity to have weekly supervision. Post holders will have access to dedicated doctors’ office which they will share with other doctors.

Start/End Date: The successful candidate is to be available ASAP and working on an initial 12 months period with a view with of an extension.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- You will be assessing each individual on their current status of Mental Health.
- You will learn about each patient and their background health to understand the correct path to be taken when giving any advice and or treatment.
- You will be working with Female Adults over the age of 65.
- You will be reporting back to the Trust with all findings and actions taken.
What skills/Experience is required?
- You must be able to adapt to all situations that may occur whilst at the Trust.
- You must be on the highest professional behaviour at all times.
- Experience in Old Age Psychiatry is preferred but not essential.
- Experience in working in a mental health teams is essential.
- RiO experience is essential.
- You must be GMC Registered.
