This role is a full-time position in the NHS in a Bedford CMHT service; it offers highly negotiable rates for a dedicated psychiatrist. The trust is seeking an enthusiastic Consultant in Learning Disability Psychiatry to work Monday to Friday. Your core responsibilities would be to help assess, diagnose and oversee the mental health of patients in your care.

The post holder will support the community case load for Bedfordshire patients who have a learning Disability and patients referred for Autism. It also takes new referrals of patients with a learning disability graduating from the CAMHS LD services on turning 18 and from other clinicians for clarification, diagnosis and management. The candidate will have experience of working in this environment and will be tenacious in providing the best care over prolonged periods of time to achieve optimum outcomes for these patients using all treatment modalities.

Skills:

  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills

Requirements:

  • You must have a full GMC licence to practice
  • Relevant previous experience working in this type of position
  • Section 12 approval is essential
  • Approved clinician status is desired but not essential
