Are you an empathetic Occupational Therapist who has experience within Paediatrics?
Pulse is now seeking a band 6 Occupational Therapist to work within a paediatric service at an innovative NHS trust based in Enfield, Middlesex. The post is available to start as soon as possible, offering part-time hours for an ongoing period.
The OT will be required to liaise closely with the health visiting team i.e. training for Health visitors of childhood occupations and how they can best support families that they work with, training on how to identify when a child may need more specialist intervention and how to refer on. The OT will also carry out ‘drop in’ clinics at health visitors centre for parents attending the clinic to give advice and support as needed. The postholder will provide training for parents about child occupations (0-5 years of age) and how to support their child’s development, they may also be required to hold their own caseload. Applying therapists should preferably have worked already with the UK as a children’s OT.
Some duties within this post will include:
- Ensuring that young people are prepared for the transition to adult life
- Fine motor assessments
- Managing own caseload efficiently
- Treating patients with complex needs, learning difficulties or biomechanical problems
- Liaising with other healthcare professionals
Skills and experience needed:
- Relevant degree/qualifications in occupational therapy
- Current HCPC registration
- Previous experience working within a Paediatric service - Ideally NHS
- Encouraging attitude
- Ability to think outside the box
- Be compassionate and empathetic
- Good team work skills
