Are you an Occupational Therapist who specialises in Neurology?

Our NHS client is looking for an experienced and caring Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join their Neuro Rehab team, based in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. The post is available to start as soon as possible, offering full-time hours on a permanent basis.

The appointed Therapist will be working on a 22-bed neuropsychiatric care and treatment facility for men affected by acquired brain injuries. The postholder would be responsible for the assessment and treatment of occupational dysfunction for 22 service users working alongside a Band 5 equivalent OT and with the support of 2 therapy co-ordinators. You will work with a full multidisciplinary team in a coordinated way to support each service user develop their skills and move through our clinical model of care from admission to discharge.

Salary: From £36,000 depending on experience

To be considered for this role you must:

  • Be HCPC registered as an Occupational Therapist
  • Hold the relevant degree/qualifications in Occupational Therapy
  • Have previous experience within an NHS neuro setting
  • Hold a full driver’s licence and have own vehicle
  • Be able to develop a rapport with patients
  • Have excellent time management and communication skills

Duties within this role will include:

  • Carrying out brain injury assessments
  • Working within a multidisciplinary team
  • Providing support for carers and family – advice on care plans after discharge
  • Setting realistic client centred goals to help with development
  • Neuro splinting and casting
