Are you an empathetic Occupational Therapist who has experience within Paediatrics?
Pulse is now seeking a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to work within a paediatric service at an innovative NHS trust in Stansted, Essex. The post is available to start as soon as possible, offering full-time hours with the placement due to end on 31.12.23.
The postholder will work with early years and school aged children, in their educational settings, as part of our Special Educational Needs (SEND) Therapies team in West Essex. The SEND Therapies team will work alongside our Community Therapies Team and support the Therapy needs of children with Education and Health Care Plans, as a result of their complex physical, sensory impairments, developmental and cognitive needs that impact on their functioning. Therapists will work with educational professionals (SENCOs, LSAs and teachers) in setting goals and providing Therapy plans, to integrate within their daily curriculum, as specified in the child’s EHCP. Applying therapists must have experience of working with children with a range of special educational needs in their educational settings.
Some duties within this post will include:
- Ensuring that young people are prepared for the transition to adult life
- Fine motor assessments
- Managing own caseload efficiently
- Treating patients with complex needs, learning difficulties or biomechanical problems
- Liaising with other healthcare professionals
Skills and experience needed:
- Relevant degree/qualifications in occupational therapy
- Current HCPC registration
- Previous experience working within a Paediatric service - Ideally NHS
- Encouraging attitude
- Ability to think outside the box
- Be compassionate and empathetic
- Good team work skills
