Salary: Starting salary is from £33,000 - £37,255 dependent on relevant experience and skills.

Role: 37.5 Hours per week full time work available, working Four days a week 8:00 am – 18:00 pm or potentially 09:00 am – 19:00 pm.

As Staff Nurse for our chemo day care unit, you will be responsible for working in a supporting experienced nursing team to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate high standards of specialist care to ensure that patients are cared for in a safe, caring and comfortable environment. This will include meeting their medical, physical and emotional needs by effectively communicating with the patient and their families.

This will be the daily responsibilities on the day unit

 

  • Participate in individual care needs of patients and develop appropriate care plans to implement and evaluate
  • Monitor patient care and interventions appropriately
  • Recognise deterioration in patients’ condition at an early stage, (including neutropenic patients) Refer to the senior nurse and medical team appropriately
  • appropriate actions to isolate patients when required
  • Liaise with multi-disciplinary team (MDT)
  • Maintain ward area in stocked items, equipment and waste to maintain a clean and safe environment

 

The day-care unit is situated on the 5th floor of the Hospital. The centre specialises mainly in malignant haematology and stem cell transplantation and is one of only a few centres in the UK to have JACIE accreditation for its transplant service.  There is also some Oncology, mainly sarcoma and brain tumours. Patients receive a range of treatments- chemotherapy, immunotherapies, and supportive treatments such as blood transfusions, venesections and bisphosphonates.
