Position Overview: As a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist specializing in Adult Mental Health (Substance Abuse), you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality psychological interventions and support to individuals struggling with substance use disorders. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will assess, diagnose, and treat clients using evidence-based therapeutic approaches, empowering them to overcome addiction and achieve sustainable recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and formulations for clients with substance use disorders, addressing both their addiction and underlying mental health issues.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to the specific needs and goals of each client, incorporating evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
- Provide individual and group therapy sessions, delivering psychoeducation, relapse prevention strategies, and skills training to support clients in their recovery journey.
- Collaborate closely with other healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, nurses, and support workers, to ensure integrated and holistic care for clients.
- Monitor and evaluate clients' progress throughout treatment, adjusting interventions as needed to optimize outcomes and promote long-term recovery.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation and records in compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of training programs and workshops for staff and community partners on topics related to substance abuse and mental health.
Qualifications:
- Doctoral-level qualification (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology or Counselling Psychology from an accredited program.
- Full registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Clinical Psychologist or Counselling Psychologist.
- Extensive experience working in adult mental health settings, with a focus on substance abuse treatment and recovery.
- Proven expertise in delivering evidence-based psychological interventions for individuals with substance use disorders, including CBT, MI, and DBT.
- Strong clinical assessment and formulation skills, with the ability to develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport and build therapeutic alliances with clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Commitment to professional development and continuous learning in the field of substance abuse treatment and recovery.
- Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom.
