At the intersection of art, design and technology lies Striking Distance Studios.  Led by Dead Space and Call of Duty franchise veteran Glen Schofield, a new AAA development studio has risen within the San Ramon Hills of the San Francisco Bay Area. We have planted roots in beautiful Bishop Ranch and are now building our flagship state-of-the-art development studio establishing the East Bay as the new up and coming creative and technological hub we know it to be.

Striking Distance Studios is looking for an experienced Rendering Engineer to help create a new next generation AAA experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with technology director/architect on technical design and feature roll out.
  • Coordinate with leads to ensure smooth roll out of new features.
  • Research and develop real-time rendering techniques and features.
  • Stay up to day with graphics papers and technology.
  • Perform CPU and GPU performance profiling and optimization.
  • Write clear, maintainable, portable, and highly performant code.
  • Adhere to team coding standards and best practices
  • Review the work of other engineers and provide mentorship on your area of knowledge.
  • Foster a culture of open, honest, and respectful communication across all disciplines.
  • Communicate accurate status updates to your team leads, producers, and QA regarding tasks/features you are responsible for.
  • Share knowledge and brainstorm with other disciplines and team members.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, or equivalent.
  • 3 years programming experience as rendering engineer. Unreal experience preferable.
  • Experience on the current generation of consoles (PS4, Xbox One).
  • Excellent debugging and performance analysis skills 
  • Knowledge of performance and memory constraints as they relate to game development.
  • Eye for photorealism and taste for aesthetics.
  • Very strong knowledge in 3D math, graphics pipelines and rendering techniques.
  • Passion to explore new R&D ideas and new technology, strive to overcome technology barriers.
  • Positive and enthusiastic to engage new challenges.
  • Open minded, willing to be continuously learning, and with exceptional communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to be self-directed, focused and detail oriented.

Lo que necesitamos:

Striking Distance Studios en Zaragoza, España, se encuentra en la búsqueda de un Rendering Engineer con talento, motivación y experiencia.

Trabajarás en un ambiente muy creativo y colaborativo que busca una combinación de las disciplinas de arte y tecnología, y se esfuerza por progresar y llevar la disciplina artística de la renderización (y otras disciplinas) a la última generación.

Serás responsable de la búsqueda y desarrollo de nuevas técnicas y especificaciones de renderización, así como estar al día de presentaciones en congresos, medios de comunicación y tecnológicos.

Responsabilidades:

  • Colaborar con el director/arquitecto de tecnología en el lanzamiento del diseño y funcionalidades técnicas.
  • Coordinarte con los Managers para asegurar un lanzamiento fluido de nuevas funcionalidades.
  • Investigar y desarrollar técnicas y funcionalidades de renderización en tiempo real.
  • Mantenerte al día con los medios gráficos y la tecnología.
  • Desarrollar y optimizar perfiles de Desarrollo de CPU y GPU.
  • Escribir código eficiente, claro, sostenible y portable.
  • Seguir estándares de código y prácticas comunes de grupo
  • Revisar el trabajo de otros ingenieros y tutelarlos en tu área de conocimiento.
  • Comunicar de forma periódica tus avances al equipo de Managers, Productores, y QA (Quality Assurance) en relación con las tareas o funciones de las que eres responsable.
  • Comparte tu conocimiento e ideas con otras disciplinas y miembros del equipo.
  • Promover una cultura de comunicación abierta, honesta y respetuosa en todas las disciplinas.


Requisitos:

  • Grado en ingeniería de software, informática o equivalente.
  • 2 años de experiencia en la industria de videojuegos en un puesto similar. Experiencia con Unreal es preferible.
  • Experiencia en la actual generación de consolas (PS4, Xbox One).
  • Habilidades de depuración y análisis de rendimiento.
  • Conocimientos de limitaciones de rendimiento y memoria en relación con el desarrollo de videojuegos.
  • Buenas habilidades para el fotorealismo y la estética.
  • Muy sólidos conocimientos en matemáticas 3D, pipelines gráficas y técnicas de renderización.
  • Pasión por explorar nuevas ideas de Investigación y Desarrollo y nuevas tecnologías, esfuerzo por superar las barreras tecnológicas.
  • Optimismo y entusiasmo por nuevos retos.
  • De mente abierta, con deseos de aprender de forma continua, con excelentes habilidades comunicativas y de trabajo en equipo.
  • Habilidad para ser autónomo, orientación a resultados y orientación al detalle.
  • Alta fluidez en inglés, medio de comunicación habitual en el estudio y con la central.
