Why this role exists...

  • We are looking to add a core member to our multi-functional engineering/manufacturing team to accelerate the development of Proxy's next generation wearable hardware products.
  • You will own the design of the Proxy ring as well as ancillary accessories such as chargers and ring sizers.
  • Additionally you will consider all manufacturing/automation implications of design choices and support the manufacturing team in executing on the development of a manufacturing line to produce the ring. 
  • Not having this person in place will result in missing our deadlines for having the ring roll out with our SW offerings. 

And so…

  • You will focus on the manufacturing implementation including fixture design, manufacturing cells, automation components, robotics interfaces and required support equipment specifications.
  • Assist automation engineering with fixture integration to node red backend manufacturing system.
  • Support vendors with any needs related to manufacturing processes including the assembly process as well as coordination on fixture design & implementation.
  • You will spend ~70% of your time in the U.S. and ~30% of your time in Taiwan.


  • BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience and demonstrated comprehension of mechanical design
  • Experience and demonstrated understanding of fixture design 
  • Experience in Design for Automation, Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and Design for Assembly (DFA), statistical tolerance analysis techniques, functional dimensioning, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, with focus on high volume manufacturing
  • Demonstrated capabilities in  plastic part and metal part design including material selection and tool design
  • Experience in converting mechanical design to detail assembly process
  • Good verbal and written communication skills 
  • Good documentation skills 
  • Experience in handling ultra thin part design
  • Experience in surface finishing design 
  • Demonstrated knowledge in Solidworks CAD preferred
  • Experience in handling micro manufacturing design 
  • Experience in handling Epoxy/Glue is a big plus
  • Experience in high volume automation is a plus
  • Experience in MDVT, reliability testing, and quality control is a plus
  • Ability to travel between the U.S. and Taiwan a must
