The Role:

Proton is looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our fast-growing SaaS team! Reporting directly to the Director of Engineering, the Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for the design and development of Proton.ai product features, improvements, bug fixes, and internal tooling. In this role, you will lead major feature design and development as a member of an Agile Development team with other engineers, Product Managers  and QA.

We're looking for someone technical with a deep understanding and curiosity of modern tech stacks and systems that will help us choose and implement solutions that benefit our customers, as well as be a great teammate to work and collaborate with. 

We currently have a hub in North Macedonia and will be adding to the team in the area in the future. This is a remote role with the team coming together regularly to collaborate. 

Proton collaborates with Oyster HR to hire international employees as full time (long term) contractors within our company. 

Gross Salary range is $60,000 - $75,000  USD annually, based on experience. 

 

What you’ll do: 

  • Feature Development:  Independently Develop the backend and frontend coding of new features while helping the Product team understand complexity and tradeoffs.  Developing across the entire full stack of our product, driving features from idea to production and rapidly delivering value to our customers that makes a real impact.   
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate closely with a cross-functional agile development team, including other Software Engineers, Product Management, Quality Assurance, and Design.
  • Infrastructure Enhancement: Participate in the buildout of improvements to our development, staging, and production environments in cooperation with our Infrastructure team as needed.
  • Build Quality into the Process:  Develop software under a true Test Driven mindset with an increasing focus on Quality, Performance, and Reliability.
  • Customer Engagement: Understanding our customers is a cornerstone of our organizational success. Consequently, your role will involve visits to our customers.

 

You'll be a great fit for this role if: 

  • Proven experience as a software engineer in modern agile SaaS environments, with a focus on building scalable SaaS solutions. 3+ years of experience building and deploying scalable SaaS applications.
  • 3+ years of experience with a modern frontend technology, preferably Vue.js (which is our primary framework, although experience in React or similar frameworks is also valued)
  • 3+ years of experience in Mobile development (preferably React Native)
  • Track record of successful product feature decisions and system improvements with a large focus on secure coding practices and standards to meet the needs of enterprise class customers and their data.
  • Deep understanding of cloud-native technologies and concepts such as cloud providers, databases, application performance, scalability and security
  • Curiosity for new technologies. You’re someone who actively seeks to stay informed about the latest frameworks, software advancements, and tools utilized by industry peers. You like contrasting and comparing technologies to find why one fits better for certain use-cases than the other. 
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and familiarity with modern development practices. 
  • Experience with enterprise applications is highly preferred.
  • Exceptional communication skills for conveying complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.

  • Our web app is currently 97.5% Javascript, 2.0% CSS, and 0.5% HTML.
