The Role:

This is not another cold-calling-BDR-machine role- your script will change some call to call and is not "one-size-fits-all" We are looking for a Strategic Business Development Representative to join our team. This person will be responsible for building and refreshing target account lists, setting up multi-channel campaigns and working on opportunities and account plans with Proton's Regional Sales Directors (RSDs). You will convert high-profile executive prospects who haven't yet heard of Proton into engaged buyers. Our prospects all exist as VPs, Directors, and the C-suite. You won't be calling and emailing associates or managers. The ideal candidate has an excellent combination of both professional confidence and empathy, grit, and initiative.

  • You will be joining Proton an existing team of five Strategic Business Development Representatives who are leading the outbound charge to help us shape the strategy of our GTM.
  • As the face and voice of Proton, you will build credibility as an early advisor and connector, helping to educate and nurture folks into the early stages of the sales cycle - sharing relevant articles, building targeted cadences, and experimenting with new ways to get a prospect's attention.
  • We're committed to investing in your growth and further developing your sales skills. Strong performers will have the opportunity to be promoted.
    • Your growth may follow a linear route towards AE/ AM, but we welcome and encourage BDRs to investigate cross-functional roles within the company as well.
    • Average tenure for the BDR role is expected between 1-2 years.

This is a full-time, fully-remote position, with occasional paid travel to in-person meetups. It includes a salary of $50k base / $70k OTE (uncapped). For this hire, we are looking for someone located in the North America who is willing to commit to working permanently on a US time zone.

What you'll do as a Strategic BDR at Proton:

  • Architect targeted account plans and campaigns with RSDs and sales leadership.
  • Research accounts and coming up with scalable yet personalized outreach strategies.
  • Identify prospects and qualify them to understand their buying aptitude. KPIs will include prospecting for discovery calls and qualified opportunities for your RSDs.
  • Nurture prospective buyers to help keep them informed about relevant updates from Proton until they are ready to progress the conversation.

Experience that may be helpful:

  • Familiarity with Hubspot, Outreach, Zoominfo, LI Sales Navigator, and Slack which are used extensively day-to-day.
  • Interest in Artificial Intelligence, B2B Distribution, and technology in general.
  • Business development or prospecting experience is helpful, but not required.
    • Project management, education, people management, recruiting, military service, finance have all proven to be valuable prior experience for the role.
