Purpose of the role 

As the Engineering Manager for the Web, Android and iOS team (at Proton Pass), you lead a team of frontend engineers (dedicated to fostering continuous innovation in our applications. Reporting to the Business unit lead, you will collaborate with various teams within Proton.  Your primary objective is to elevate Proton Pass to become the market’s leading open-source password manager. 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Enhance team efficiency by balancing speed, quality and developer experiences through streamlined processes. 
  • Strategically analyze and encourage teams to break down challenges into manageable, iterative solutions. Adjust scopes as needed to meet objectives promptly while upholding exceptional user experiences. 
  • Ensure transparent communication of priorities and context among team members. 
  • Foster team growth through personalized 1-on-1s, performance evaluations, and career advancement initiatives. 
  • Oversee cross-team projects to ensure seamless coordination and execution. 
  • Influence and collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to align engineering efforts with business objectives. 

Job requirements 

  • Proficiency in web development and the web ecosystem, including technologies such as React, Redux and Electron 
  • Minimum of 2 years managing software teams 
  • Minimum of 2 years project management experience, encompassing methodologies like Kanban and Scrum 
  • Comprehensive understanding of the full application lifecycle, from code reviews and CI/CD to deployment across various platforms, along with post-release operational incident troubleshooting. 
  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in a relevant field  

Bonus points for: 

  • Experience handling and maintaining substantial software components 
  • Familiarity with gradual rollouts and metrics/monitoring/alerting frameworks
