We know that in today’s strapped newsrooms, it can be hard to find the support you need. ProPublica's Local Reporting Network is hosting Office Hours to help fill that gap.
Office Hours will give you access to ProPublica staff and to advice we hope will help support your continued commitment to investigative journalism. We particularly encourage people of color, LGBTQ people and those in other traditionally underrepresented communities to sign up.
How does this work?:
Sign up through this form and upload a one-page description of the project you have in mind. We’ll pair you with a ProPublica editor or staffer who will meet with you for 30 minutes to discuss an investigative story idea. Once we get your completed form, we'll be in touch to schedule a time. This opportunity is open to professional journalists only at this time.

What kinds of things can we talk about?:
We’re focusing on shaping an investigative project. You can get advice on how to conceive of an investigative idea, think through best approaches to reporting, brainstorm about roadblocks. You should have a project or idea in mind that can be discussed.
Why are you doing this?
ProPublica's Local Reporting Network was launched in 2018 to support local and regional newsrooms working on important investigative projects affecting their communities. While we hope that you'll consider applying for that program, our ultimate goal is to help talented local journalists do great accountability journalism.
What's expected of me:
Half an hour goes by quickly. We ask you to have an idea to share in advance, so you and our staff can spend that time productively discussing it.
Questions? Reach out to Assistant Managing Editor Sarah Blustain at sarah.blustain@propublica.org, if you have any questions not addressed above.
