Position

We are seeking an experienced Associate and/or Vice President on the Strategic Development team to be involved in all aspects of driving strategy and principal investments as a generalist across Pretium businesses and its various operating platforms. Pretium’s Strategic Development team leads the origination and execution of key firm-wide initiatives including mergers and acquisitions (M&A), growth equity raises, strategic partnerships, and fund optimization. This position will report to the Managing Director on the Strategic Development team and is based in New York City in accordance with the Firm’s hybrid (in office 3 days per week) schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluation and execution of principal strategic investments/M&A.
  • Work closely with senior management (CEO, President, Head of Strategy, COO & CFO) in the development of firmwide strategy.
  • Support full life cycle of transactions, including sourcing, valuation, due diligence, execution, and integration.
  • Maintain regular dialogue with target companies’ management teams and advisors.
  • Work closely with Firm investment platforms and operating company management teams to optimize execution.
  • Understand and monitor key trends, strategies and competitive positioning within the alternative asset management industry.
  • Identify and extensively research industries and investment opportunities.

Requirements

  • 4-6 years of work experience of which at least 2+ years of experience in investment banking, transaction advisory or private equity (FIG, M&A, Real Estate or buy-side experience is a plus).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written; ability to develop and maintain effective business relationships with leadership and management teams.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment and to take initiative and advance firm priorities.
  • Strong financial modeling skills.
  • Highly proactive and strong work ethic. 
  • Robust interest in long-term value creation and continued management of investments.
