Position

We are seeking an Associate to join the Real Estate Research team. The research team analyzes data and trends in the housing and broader real estate markets, including supply/demand drivers, capital markets and supply chains. The team works across the organization to provide actionable insights for the investment process, business development and other strategic efforts. This position will report to the Head of Real Estate Research and is based in New York City. This role is subject to the firm’s hybrid working policy (in office three days per week).

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain Excel/other databases that track national and local housing data, other industry data and capital markets data
  • Prepare internal and external written reports on the housing outlook, industry/company analysis and other topics related to the firm’s investment portfolio
  • Assist in the Real Estate team’s preparation of investment memorandums, investor updates and investment committee analyses
  • Work with the Data Analytics team to incorporate existing datasets into the research workflow and to develop new datasets
  • Monitor relevant data releases, news flow and capital markets activity
  • Support business development to help cultivate new / existing investor relationships
  • Analyze earnings and other filings from peers and other relevant public companies
  • Effectively communicate research themes and conclusions internally across the organization
  • Liaise/network with industry research counterparts

Requirements

  • 2-4 years in research, investment management, investment banking or consulting
  • Bachelors required; CFA preferred
  • Financial modeling skills including building bespoke models
  • Ability to write reports in an organized, concise, and clear manner
  • Prior experience with or ability to learn Python
  • Background in real estate or housing
  • Strong communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills with proven ability to develop and maintain effective business relationships
