Role Summary:

As a Senior Sales Engineer on the Go-To-Market Team at Prefect, you will bring value to Prefect's highest-revenue prospective clients by advising them on Prefect best practices, and providing solutions that improve their data workflow orchestration tooling and systems. Additionally, you will consult internally across both the engineering, sales, and customer success teams to help them better understand high value use cases and practices seen "in the wild".

Your role will be an essential element to closing prospective clients, while promoting adoption of our product across our enterprise customers' organizations. You will have deep empathy for solving our customer's pain points. You will encounter nuanced technical problems and design, often on the fly, scalable and maintainable solutions.

You will work with many team members--including Operations, Product, Sales, and Engineering--to help Prefect improve our sales experience. You will identify opportunities for improvement, track risks and dependencies, and advocate for successful outcomes for both prospective clients and fellow Prefectionists.

You will report to our Director of Sales Engineering, Emil.

What You'll Do:

  • Support an end-to-end Enterprise sales process - engaging and advising prospective clients
  • Build and support long-lasting, mutually beneficial relationships with new Enterprise clients
  • Demonstrate the value of Prefect from a technical perspective to prospective clients in Enterprise organizations
  • Collaborate with our Enterprise AE to bring in and close new business by running technical product demos
  • Be a senior technical advisor for prospective clients using your product subject-matter-expertise and advanced use-case knowledge to create data pipeline architecture with Prefect, and help establish long-term technical integrations between their systems and Prefect
  • Be a cloud infrastructure subject-matter-expert and guide customer infrastructure design required for extraction, transformation, and loading of data from multiple data sources for our clients
  • Identify product feedback from clients, spotting trends and surfacing to help shape product roadmap
  • Provide architectural guidance to new and existing users

Your Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience as a successful quota-carrying sales/solutions engineer
  • 5+ years experience with Python
  • High proficiency with Kubernetes and Docker
  • Expertise in modern data science and data engineering tooling, ideally Prefect
  • Experience exceeding quota in a solution selling environment
  • Experience building large-scale data engineering or data science workflows to solve important business problems
  • Experience working with technical teams and non-technical individuals, including executive leadership, in complex organizations
  • Experience communicating value of a technical product to technical and non-technical teams
  • Comfort working with clients, while solving novel and strategic challenges

The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is ($127,000-$160,000). Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and work location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Your recruiter can share more about the salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. Please keep in mind that equity is not included in the range provided above and will represent a significant part of your total compensation. Benefits and any bonus or incentive compensation is also not included in the range provided above.
