The Company helps pharmaceutical and life-sciences clients address product development and commercialization challenges while creating access to better care for patients around the world. Precision is comprised of two business platforms, Precision for Medicine and Precision Value & Health (“PVH”). Precision for Medicine focuses on research and development initiatives and primarily services emerging to mid-size innovative biotechnology firms. Precision Value & Health provides solutions to maximize the commercial potential of innovative therapeutics for larger biopharma firms as well as emerging biotech companies. Precision Medicine Group is a team of over 3,000 employees across 35 offices and laboratories world-wide.

The Role

Reporting into the EVP Finance & CFO for PVH, the Vice President of FP&A will lead the FP&A functions across the organization.  Precision Value & Health is currently over 1,300 employees and growing rapidly. The business is organized into three service lines:

  • Evidence Solutions: consulting and advisory services to develop the evidence needed to demonstrate commercial value of new therapeutic treatments
  • Data Sciences: technology-enabled and data analytical solutions for life science companies to develop, plan, and execute targeted engagement programs
  • Engagement Solutions: communication services for translating evidence into benefits for healthcare providers, patients, payers and investors

The VP of FP&A role is responsible for optimizing the budgeting, planning and analytical decision support capabilities of the finance organization and broader enterprise.  S/he will be expected to work effectively across the company, evidenced by strong business partnership with sales, marketing, IT, operations, and the business development functions.  This person will serve as a strategic thought partner and change agent, enabling business strategy and value creation.  This position is expected to challenge and support the business, increasing PVH’s ability to anticipate issues and identify opportunities, and drive informed data-driven decision making through diligent financial management.  The successful candidate will be a hands-on, strategic thinker, as well as strong analytical leader with a proven track record of success in finance leadership roles.

Key responsibilities

  • Play a leading role supporting the CFO, President, COO and Head of Business Development to lead and build a best-in-class FP&A organization, ensuring a complete and comprehensive planning and analysis process.
  • Build trusted relationships with the C-Suite to identify and provide counsel on key opportunities and risks across the organization, as identified through a comprehensive and impact-oriented FP&A process.
  • Prepare management reports for the C-Suite and other top executives to monitor ongoing performance against financial goals. Lead periodic planning meetings with key executives. Interpret the business implications behind analyses of quantitative data and communicate those implications to relevant business leaders. Ensure follow through with implementation of decisions.
  • Lead financial, quarterly and long-range planning, business performance analysis, and analytics across the company. Enhance and maintain an enterprise-wide long-term strategic plan. Enhance the annual financial planning process that includes key financial criteria and strategic objectives as well as operating financial plans (e.g., dashboards).
  • Build and maintain models to forecast and evaluate financial performance, pricing and staffing considerations, and capital expenditure opportunities.
  • Provide thought leadership in creation and enhancement of key performance indicators and oversee the institutionalizing and engraining of KPIs across the organization.
  • Form strong relationships and communication channels across the organization, fostering a culture of collaboration and partnership to build and enhance infrastructure, process and systems.
  • Promote a culture of rigorous and disciplined financial analysis relying on quantitative data to support business decisions.
  • Develop and build, along with the CFO and fellow members of the executive finance team, an FP&A organization recognized as a business partner across the PVH organization. Ensure sufficient resources, tools and processes are in place to scale a world-class team with the right people, process, and technology.

  • Build a best-in-class FP&A organization and planning processes that enable a comprehensive planning and analysis function that delivers on C-Suite, board and investor expectations.
  • Build trusted and advisory partnerships with the C-Suite and key business leaders, enabling an analytically driven planning process as well as deeper insights to inform strategy and business decisions.
  • Integrate effectively with the broader finance organization, impacting and furthering PVH’s results-oriented and high impact client service culture.

Candidate Profile

  • The ideal candidate brings best in class finance leadership experience in a large-scale, complex company with international operations. S/he must be an established finance leader experienced at driving business impact by building and optimizing the FP&A function.
  • This finance executive must have a quality first, growth orientation with the ability to develop strongly aligned relationships within C-Suite and business leaders while delivering on competitive and aggressive goals and objectives.
  • We seek an exceptional operations-oriented FP&A leader with strong business acumen and influencing skills.
  • The company’s results-oriented culture requires drive, high energy, a people-focused entrepreneurial spirit, collaboration, and a highly analytical intellect to be successful.
  • Qualified candidates will have demonstrated experience in high growth and evolving business of scale and complexity professional services in the biotech/pharma-based industries.

Ideal Experience

  • 10-15 years of professional experience in finance roles, including substantial experience in FP&A, and leadership of an overall FP&A function or divisional business unit for a company of at least $300 million in total revenues.
  • Undergraduate degree in finance and/or accounting required
  • Advanced business degree a plus, C.P.A. a plus.
  • Prior experience in investment banking, finance, public accounting, or strategy/management consulting a plus.
  • Industry experience in professional services is highly preferred, with a preference for life sciences, communications, or consulting.
  • Demonstrated experience in building infrastructure and teams, and driving business results from the finance organization, leading to measurable improvement in the company’s capabilities and financial performance.

This compensation range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to: skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Precision, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.  This role is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, health insurance, retirement savings benefits, life insurance and disability benefits, parental leave, and paid time off for sick leave and vacation, among other benefits.
