Position Summary:

The Senior Director, Global Project Management, Translational and Lab Services will provide oversight and be responsible for project management in the scope of Translational and Lab Services, including global teams and multiple Precision lab sites / locations (i.e., Frederick, MD; Redwood City, CA; Houston, TX; and Berlin, Germany). 

 

Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to:

  • Works with project management and delivery teams (e.g., biorepository, assay teams) to manage situations within and across functional areas to identify and evaluate fundamental issues, while providing strategic and tactical direction as appropriate
  • Interacts internally and externally with Sr. Management, requiring negotiation of critical matters across project-, program-, portfolio-, and business-levels
  • Leads senior managers to establish strategic goals and objectives and monitors to ensure achievement of these goals and objectives
  • Develops or contributes to organizational structure, policies, processes, standards and tools, and oversees or contributes to their implementation
  • Works on complex problems of diverse scope in which analysis of situation or data requires complex critical thinking and practical solutions
  • Organizes projects and teams; manage project timelines, communication flow and deliverables; and monitor and report on projects as appropriate
  • Provides subject matter expertise as appropriate on laboratory operations related to biospecimen collection, processing, shipping both domestically and internationally, and sample management activities within a biorepository
  • Serves in a client facing role as Program Director in accordance with role-based project team as needed
  • Defines and applies best practices in Project Management (e.g., Project Management Body of Knowledge)
  • Monitors and ensures that Project Management personnel are fulfilling obligations for financial management, including month end actuals reporting, forecasting, and ad hoc reporting
  • Monitors and ensures that Project Management personnel are fulfilling obligations for inbound sample tracking, project tracking and status reporting to delivery teams and Sr. Management
  • Supports continuous improvement of processes and standards to optimize efficiency and effectiveness
  • Author or contribute to Standard Operating Procedures and other controlled documents including but not limited to Lab Manuals, Kitting Documents, Sample Management Plans, Communication Plans, Data Plans and any other controlled documents
  • Oversee development and progression of the Project Specialist team plus Project Specialist Supervisor
  • Reviews work product, contracts, and budgets as needed
  • Serve in a senior role for customer success management, ensuring Precision is meeting or exceeding customer expectations
  • Serve in a senior role for strategic account management, providing insights into opportunities for business development in areas of penetration and differentiation of Precision’s service offering to the customer
  • Foster a professional, positive and collaborative work environment
  • Enforce applicable regulations and quality standards for laboratory services and clinical studies
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

 

Minimum Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology or related field, and 10 years of project management or equivalent work experience -or- Master’s degree in Biology or related field, and 7 years of project management or equivalent work experience

 

Other Required:

  • 5 years of managing personnel working in a matrix environment
  • Knowledge of laboratory services applied on clinical studies, including kitting, logistics, sample management, and sample testing
  • Subject matter expertise in laboratory operations related to biospecimen collection, processing, shipping both domestically and internationally, and sample management activities within a biorepository
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, customer management and stakeholder management skills
  • Reputation as emerging leader with sustained performance and accomplishment
  • Experience with financial management including budget management, forecasting, variance investigations, and trend analysis to support understanding of business performance
  • Experience managing personnel in a matrix environment
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Able to travel both domestically and internationally including overnight stays
  • Must be able to read, write, speak fluently and comprehend the English language

 

Preferred:

  • Project management certification (PMI, PMP)
  • Proficiency with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Project Insight)
