The Scientific Liaison is responsible for identifying, coordinating and supporting business opportunities with the business development team in the assigned area of responsibility and/or region. The Scientific Liaison will serve as a consultant and spokesperson for the laboratories on highly significant matters relating to operations, scheduling, or specific phases of projects or contracts.
Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to the following:
Business Development
Ability to describe articulately and with scientific accuracy all Precision service offerings on which training has been provided
Identify opportunities for all Lab Services products and services
Responsible for supporting the business team on new opportunities and following-up on client discussions to advance the opportunity
Help support Precision leadership and Business Development in client meetings and follow-up activities
Develop, enhance, and strengthen client relationships
Develop and maintain deep understanding of the lab services to function as a subject matter expert (SME)
Capture scientific details to contribute to meeting minutes that are distributed to internal stakeholders and external clients
Take ownership over all scientific details of the specification sheet. Review the specification sheet against all client deliverables and relevant documents such as RFPs and clinical protocols to ensure it meets expectations
Attend conferences, trade shows and meetings as required
Collaborate with cross functional partners such as the marketing team and management to identify and develop business opportunities

Scientific Solutions and Marketing
Communicate with Precision management regarding projects related to validation studies, method development, and reference standards
Provide support on the development of materials and scientific content for marketing purposes, such as white papers and posters
Provide assistance in the evaluation and implementation of new technologies or techniques to help accelerate the business
Implement effective improvements in systems, processes, and procedures, increasing productivity, quality, and technical expertise in the laboratory
Collaborate with internal researchers to promote innovation and original thinking in execution of research services at a level equivalent to state-of-the-art in the industry
Participate in industry organizations, including delivery of poster and podium presentations at conferences or publishing in scientific journals
Share subject matter expertise with colleagues at internal training events
Specification Sheet and Proposal Writing
Write specification sheets to support business development and the proposal team, consulting as appropriate with internal experts
Confirm feasibility for custom client requests with Senior Management
Collaborate with proposal writers in pre-proposal conversations, throughout the proposal development process, and for other client deliverables
Support writing and review of all proposals, proposal revisions and change orders to ensure that these documents are scoped correctly to align with client request(s), enterprise capabilities, with sufficient notes and details to facilitate accurate execution by our laboratories
Organize and participate in proposal strategy meetings
Qualifications:
Minimum Required (one of the following):
Doctorate (PhD) in life sciences or related field with 3 years of relevant experience or
Master’s Degree in the Life Sciences with 10 years of relevant experience or
Bachelor’s degree in the Life Sciences with 15 years of relevant experience
Other Required:
Team player willing to collaborate and share knowledge
Ability to work independently, manage time and create plans to achieve enterprise-level and personal goals
Ability to think creatively and strategically and act tactically in a dynamic environment
Track record of successive increasing levels of responsibility
Must be self-directed and self-motivated to work at a highly technical level
Willing to travel up to 15-35% to attend conferences and visit client sites
Must possess a valid driver’s license
Able to travel both domestically and internationally including overnight stays
Must be able to read, write, speak fluently and comprehend the English language
Precision is required by law in some states or cities to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to: skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Precision, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. This role is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, health insurance, retirement savings benefits, life insurance and disability benefits, parental leave, and paid time off for sick leave and vacation, among other benefits.
