A day in the life:

  • The day often begins with a collaborative team meeting to discuss project updates and align on priorities. The developer then dives into hands-on coding, implementing and testing UI elements for both desktop and responsive websites. Building upon reusable code and libraries is a continuous effort, fostering efficiency and scalability. Throughout the day, communication with team members is paramount, involving discussions on project progress, addressing challenges, and participating in code reviews. Periodic breaks may be interspersed with skill enhancement activities, staying abreast of the latest trends and technologies in front-end development. Additionally, the day may include interactions with stakeholders to ensure that the developed frontend code aligns accurately with user and business requirements. Overall, the role demands a balance of technical prowess, effective collaboration, and a keen understanding of user experience principles.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing, and testing UI for desktop and responsive websites
  • Build reusable code and libraries for future use
  • Accurately translate user and business needs into functional frontend code

Role Requirements:

  • Experienced JS(ES6), SCSS, HTML5 developer
  • Expert/Advanced experience in front-end technologies and user experience (React, NextJs, TypeScript)
  • Advanced in developing and testing web-based, mobile-web-based, and fully responsive web applications using JavaScript frameworks and libraries
  • Advanced experience in collaborating with the creative team to ensure quality of work
  • Experienced in service integrations (Web Services, CMS / Commerce systems, 3rd party APIs, etc.)
  • Shopify Experience is a big plus
  • Experienced with Figma and/or Zeplin
  • Experienced in upholding established development processes (e.g. code reviews, style guides, pattern libraries)
  • Experienced and proficient in source control (gitlab / Github)

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Project Timeliness: This KPI focuses on the developer's ability to meet deadlines and deliver projects on time. It involves tracking the completion of tasks within the specified timeframes. The goal is to ensure that the front-end development work aligns with project schedules and business expectations. Regular assessments can include milestone achievements and the overall adherence to project timelines.
  • Task Fulfillment: Task fulfillment refers to the completion of assigned responsibilities, including developing, testing, and delivering UI for desktop and responsive websites. This KPI evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of the developer in executing tasks outlined in the project requirements. Monitoring the completion rate of tasks against the project plan helps assess individual and team performance.
  • Code Quality: Code quality is a crucial aspect of front-end development. This KPI assesses the cleanliness, efficiency, and adherence to coding standards in the developer's work. Utilizing static code analysis tools or conducting regular code reviews can help measure code quality. A higher code quality score indicates a lower likelihood of bugs, easier maintenance, and better collaboration among team members.
  • Communication with the Team: Effective communication is vital in a collaborative work environment. This KPI evaluates the developer's ability to communicate with team members, share progress updates, and collaborate on problem-solving. It includes factors such as responsiveness to messages, participation in team meetings, and the clarity of communication regarding project-related matters. Good communication fosters a positive and productive team dynamic.
  • User and Business Needs Alignment: This KPI gauges how well the developer understands and translates user and business requirements into functional front-end code. It involves regular feedback sessions with stakeholders to ensure that the developed UI meets their expectations. Tracking user satisfaction scores and feedback helps measure the success of aligning development efforts with the broader goals and needs of the end-users and the business.
