Reliability engineering organisation at Postman is the amalgamation of the three major drivers of software’s goodness, namely availability, quality, scalability and performance. This organisation builds and maintains platform tooling to enable the developer community in driving the metrics around the aforementioned areas like availability, maintainability, operations excellence, quality score and more, while keeping the Postman software and app performant.

About the role

Postman, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Technical Program Manager to join our Reliability Engineering team. As a Technical Program Manager, you will play a key role in driving the planning, execution, and delivery of complex technical initiatives and projects within our organisation. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional product and platform teams, including engineering, product management, design, and operations, to ensure the successful delivery of cross functional programmes, and own the availability metrics for these high-quality software solutions and products.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end project lifecycle, from project initiation to delivery, ensuring alignment with business objectives, timelines, and budget constraints, you will get to run multiple programs and projects in the areas of operations, quality and performance engineering and will be working closely with all levels of leadership in the broader organisation to drive business impacting results
  • Design and execute cross cutting programs that involve a broad level metric ownership, proven ability to track via data, and drive the results via collaboration
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including executives, product owners, and team members, to gather requirements, define project scope, and manage expectations, in short, you should be super comfortable in driving results through assertive negotiations and tracking
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks and dependencies associated with technical projects, proactively addressing potential issues and challenges
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product management, design, and quality assurance, to define project goals, deliverables, and success criteria
  • Allocate resources, manage project timelines, and track progress against milestones, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery of projects
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, process optimizations, and best practices adoption within the organisation, promoting efficiency and effectiveness
  • Maintain project/program documentation, status reports, and dashboards, providing visibility into project progress, metrics, and outcomes
  • Champion and promote Agile methodologies, frameworks, and practices, such as Scrum or Kanban, to foster a culture of agility, adaptability, and collaboration

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field from a reputed school
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in technical program management or project management roles in software product development
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), Agile methodologies, and project management best practices
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Technical proficiency in API development, web technologies, cloud platforms, and software architecture concepts
  • Experience with project management tools, such as JIRA, and version control systems, such as Git, productivity tools like Figma, excalidraw etc.
  • You have to be super proficient with spreadsheets like google-sheets
  • PMP, Agile, or Scrum certification is a plus but not a deal breaker
