The Big Data team is a central player in the Poshmark organization. Our mission is to build a world-class big data platform to bring value out of data for our customers and us. Our goal is to democratize data, support exploding business, provide reporting and analytics self-service tools, and fuel existing and new business-critical initiatives. We are looking for a natural leader to help us build the next generation of data systems focused on Acquisition, Attribution, and Marketing analytics tools. 

The role requires partnering with Data Scientists, Analysts, Engineers, Product and Growth managers to identify opportunities to streamline business processes with tools and technology. You get to play with big datasets, build data apps and ETL pipelines to empower growth managers to optimize marketing campaigns. 



  • Overall responsibility for growth data infrastructure, pipelines, and data sets that are built using cutting edge Big Data Technologies like Hive, Kafka, Spark, Druid, Redshift, Looker
  • Responsible for EDW/Big Data Datawarehouse application design, Data quality, development, and testing/deployment strategy
  • Develop an understanding of current business processes and how to evolve them. 
  • Participate in architecture discussions, influence product roadmap, and take ownership and responsibility for new projects
  • Maintain and support existing platforms and evolve to newer technology stacks and architectures
  • While building a world-class team, you are more than willing to get your hands dirty, roll up your sleeves, and play a major role in the development, architecture, and technical leadership
  • Become an advocate for the team by promoting a culture of excellence, knowledge sharing, expanding the team’s skill set, and focusing on Poshmark’s growth and fun


6-Month Accomplishments 

  • Integrate into Team Posh. You will focus on building out your working network and get connected with your immediate group, the wider engineering team as well as cross-functional teams - including Product Management, Accounting, Data Analytics, and Growth Campaign managers
  • Deliver 2 to 3 key internal system improvements
  • Learn our product and technology stack - get comfortable with various parts of Poshmark’s codebase and infrastructure
  • Lead a team -- You will directly manage and grow a team of engineers focused on Growth Data Systems
  • Gain execution independence -- lead the design and implementation of new features with a high degree of autonomy

12+ Month Accomplishments

  • Build domain expertise and ownership -- become technically knowledgeable in the area of Attribution, Marketing, Integrating with Adtec vendors so you can support and grow that area.
  • Build out and plan a strategy for technical improvements and operational efficiencies while balancing and servicing the product roadmap.
  • Drive the build vs. buy and hiring decisions based on the tactical and strategic needs to support the business
  • Focus on growing your team, mentoring and grooming the emerging leaders on your team, and recruiting new talent.

Desired Skills 

  • 10+ years experience as a software engineer and 5+ years leading/managing software engineering teams
  • Relevant engineering experience in building big data-based reporting systems 
  • Understanding of attribution platforms like Appsflyer, Branch, etc. 
  • Be self-driven, take complete ownership of initiatives, and make pragmatic technical decisions  
  • Understanding of issues related to scalability and performance at all tiers of the application
  • Expertise architecting and building large-scale data processing systems using Big Data technologies like Hadoop, Hbase, Spark, Storm, Kafka, Druid, Flink, etc.
  • Experience communicating effectively with cross-functional teams and senior leadership
