ABOUT THE ROLE

Founded in 2012, Polymath Ventures is a venture group that creates businesses from scratch, to scale massively across emerging markets. We take a hands-on approach, producing our own deal flow, attracting high potential entrepreneurs and providing extensive operational support to our companies throughout their lifecycle. To date, Polymath operates 6 startups (1 in stealth mode to be launched in 2019).

We are looking for a VP of Finance to lead our finance team full-time in Bogotá, Colombia. This is a unique opportunity to apply your financial expertise across Polymath and its ventures. You will lead a growing team of direct reports and report directly to the CFO of Polymath Ventures. This position is crucial to ensure our group’s growth and expansion into new markets and an incredible chance to grow as a professional while making an impact. 


WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Develop accounting and financial processes and methodologies to control the financial, administrative and accounting areas of Polymath and the Ventures
  • Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to Polymath's leadership team and contribute to the enhancement of ventures performance
  • Define and monitor key financial indicators 
  • Oversee accounting, budgeting, planning, cash flow and forecasting activities
  • Analyze deviations and profitability for the different ventures
  • Accountable for the quality, accuracy, and delivery of financial reports
  • Create and maintain relations with public entities and investors

WE ARE LOOKING FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH THE FOLLOWING CHARACTERISTICS:

  • +5 years of relevant working experience: ideally you have at least 3 years of professional experience in a Big Four company and/or experience in one or more multinational firms leading financial areas (i.e. treasury, accounting, financial planning, controlling)
  • Academic background in industrial engineering, economics, business administration or finance
  • Master or specialization in Business Administration or Finance is a plus
  • Experience in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting and leading or coordinating accounting teams
  • Experience in multinational companies and or startups 
  • Analytical horsepower
  • Independent, with outstanding leadership capabilities 
  • Persuasive, with strong stakeholder management and influencing skills 

IMPORTANT COMMENTS ON COMPENSATION 

We work in a highly entrepreneurial environment, so you will typically see a salary below market range. However, this role receives equity participation in Polymath Ventures and, as such, in each of its ventures. This is entrepreneurship and we want risk takers!.
