So, what’s the opportunity?

Pleo has grown fast and we now offer our services to over 20,000 businesses across six different markets. But the journey doesn’t stop there - we’re still rapidly growing and expanding across Europe. We’re looking for someone (hopefully you!) to join us as Head of 1st Line Operations to improve our operations to not only handle 10x, but 50x the volumes and complexity of today. Reporting directly to our Chief Operating Officer, you will be responsible for building and leading teams across a number of functional areas including; Customer Due Diligence onboarding (KYC), Financial Crime and Credit Operations. 

You will ultimately be responsible for:

  • Establishing a world-class operational setup which can support Pleo on its (hyper) growth journey (50x of where we are today) while providing an exceptional customer experience
  • Scaling and leading all operational teams 
  • Growing and leading the majority of Pleo’s 1st line operations across multiple disciplines (e.g. customer due diligence, transaction monitoring, payment- and credit operations etc)
  • Ensuring that our operations are ready to handle scale, whilst maintaining our customer centricity and efficiency
  • Establishing processes and procedures built on a solid technical infrastructure, thereby increasing efficiency (e.g. straight-through processing in onboarding; automated risk-scoring etc.)
  • Implementation and maintenance of new state of the art workflow/case management systems as well as setting requirements  towards other parts of Pleo’s compliance technology 
  • Managing various projects such as AML technology vendor process implementation and new market launches
  • Providing clearly defined metrics and KPIs for all relevant operational teams in Pleo
  • The Pleo Group’s statutory reporting towards e.g. Danish Financial Supervisory Authority (Finanstilsynet), the UK Financial Conduct Authority etc. 
  • Being the link between 1st line operations and 2nd line compliance  to ensure we work towards our common goals and do not end up in old-school checkbox ways of working
  • Being a great coach and continuously upskilling your teams and developing leaders

We believe you’ll thrive in this role if:

  • You love people management. You'll be leading an incredibly talented team. So you will need to know how to develop, lead, motivate and get the best out of people
  • You are an expert in stakeholder management and know how to drive cross-functional transformation projects
  • You are curious, technologically savvy and enjoy getting stuck into the nitty gritty details to solve problems
  • You like to build. Pleo is on an incredible growth journey and you’ll need to build new teams and process in order to support Pleo’s aggressive expansion plans.
  • You’ve probably led KYC onboarding, AML and operations in another rapid growth SaaS business, a financial institution or professional services
  • You have a deep understanding of what it takes to scale operations across several markets globally and have already done this multiple times 
  • You are customer obsessed and understand the importance of having a customer focused mindset when making decisions
