Role: Senior Server Developer, PlayStation Studios Online Technology

Role overview:

We are looking for a Server Developer to join our team at PlayStation Studios Online Technology.

What you'll be doing:

At Sony, our purpose is to fill the world with emotion, through the power of creativity and technology. In the Online Technology group, we collaborate with game studios around the world, to build fun multiplayer experiences at a large scale. We take a cloud-native approach, typically building Go microservices to run on Kubernetes, and working closely with DevOps engineers to continuously integrate them.

What we're looking for:

We're looking for someone with a Computer Science degree or equivalent, who cares about games, and likes solving challenging problems for many players. Someone who gets satisfaction from treating software development as a craft, building to a high quality and using best practices. Someone thoughtful, who can talk about their own ideas and listen to those of others. Someone who likes to be part of a team, to learn, and to teach.

Direct experience of Go or Kubernetes is beneficial but not essential – the fundamentals of good programming and software engineering are most important. Particularly, interest and familiarity with some of: object-oriented programming and common design patterns; data structures and efficient algorithms; programming in a concise and idiomatic style; application architecture and structuring software into clear areas of responsibility; and designing for concurrency and resilience.

Our teams are small, and you can have a big impact. If you're interested, we look forward to receiving your application.

Benefits:

  • Discretionary bonus opportunity
  • Private Medical Insurance
  • Dental Scheme
  • London Allowance (if applicable)
  • 25 days holiday per year
  • On Site Gym
  • Subsidised Café
  • Free soft drinks
  • On site bar
  • Access to cycle garage and showers
