The Estimator is responsible for estimating cost of utility scale renewable energy projects. The role requires gathering proposals, reviewing electrical and civil plans, performing material take offs, and working with the development team to understand the zoning and other site-specific requirements of each project. The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s in a STEM field and 2+ years of construction experience preferably with a solar EPC or developer.

What You’ll Do

  • Review project materials and labor agreements, and understand scope and work required
  • Estimate labor, material, and time requirements
  • Travel to project sites in development phase to provide preliminary assessment of constructability
  • Put together comprehensive bids with the support of business development team
  • Prepare job cost analyses
  • Ensure timely completion of estimates and on time submittal of bids
  • Identify opportunities for cost optimization and product improvement
  • Coordinate with the Procurement Manager and Project Manager on obtaining bids with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Communicate with partners and team members regarding new and current projects
  • Work with project management team to develop and maintain accurate cashflows


  • Excellent problem-solving and statistical analysis skills required
  • Able to multi-task, be organized, and meet strict deadlines
  • Familiarity with electrical and civil plans
  • An understanding of utility construction processes
  • Proficiency with MS Word and Excel
  • Proficiency using site reporting/analytic tools
  • Familiarity with analytical techniques and tools


  • 2+ years’ experience in construction estimating preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical engineering

Education and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM required.

Working Environment and Physical Demand

  • Some travel will be required
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license
