The Business Development Manager responsible for researching, contacting, and implementing sales strategies to capture new customers, originators, and partners.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead business development to execute on utility-scale solar co-development partnership and/or acquisition opportunities mainly in PJM, ERCOT and MISO; identification, qualification, valuation, due diligence, contract negotiation, and development management through Notice to Proceed (NTP) for construction
  • Establish relationships with procurement, trading, and origination desks at utilities, munis, co-ops, large wholesale energy providers, investment banks and power marketers
  • Identify RFP opportunities and lead marketing and origination in the RFP response process for offtake agreements, including coordinating internal resources, and pricing
  • Generate and nurture new leads for energy procurement
  • Originate bilateral PPA targets outside formal RFP processes
  • Development of sales presentations, proposals, and other materials as needed to support project development efforts
  • Negotiate power contracts with counterparties in collaboration with various types of stakeholders
  • Drive power marketing “ideas” to definitive deliverables (financial models, term sheets, contracts) and timetables for execution
  • Remain abreast of renewable energy opportunities in the United States and the national industry trends impacting the future of solar and renewable development opportunities and their competitiveness as they relate to customers
  • Assist in the development and structuring of partnership agreements and oversight of development and partner progress

Must-Haves

  • Three or more years of energy industry experience in a business development role (prospecting, cold calling, etc.)
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skill
  • Excellent organizational and presentation skills
  • Strong problem-solving, strategic thinking and analytical skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with executives both internally and in client companies
  • Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with CRM

Nice-to-Haves

  • Salesforce experience
  • Experience in the solar industry

Education and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field

Working Environment and Physical Demand

  • Some travel may be required
