The Role

Product Operations at Pilot is comprised of finance and accounting subject matter experts who possess deep product knowledge. We leverage our unique ability to identify and address complex product and accounting problems to build innovative, scalable, and sophisticated financial software.
 
Today we are a team of three ICs and one department head reporting in through to Pilot’s co-founder and CTO. We work directly alongside and embed onto specific product development teams comprised of engineers, designers, and product managers.
 

Key Responsibilities

We are hiring a Senior Product Operations Manager to support the Financial Inputs team within the Business Universe. At Pilot, the Business Universe is dedicated to creating software that efficiently and scalably ingests revenue and expense information from any institution a customer brings to their Pilot engagement.
 
Product Operations Managers are key owners of their team’s product strategy, solutions development, and customer experience. The day to day for Product Operations Managers depend greatly on the stage of the product development process, but you can expect to:
 
  • Partner with Product Managers and Product Designers in product discovery and exploration
  • Develop, test, and align on ideal product behaviors ahead of launch
  • Create and update processes, documentation, and playbooks to realize the full value of the products the team builds
  • Analyze data to explore problem spaces or validate hypotheses
  • Manage cross-functional relationships with key stakeholders across R&D, Operations, and GTM
  • Participate in all team level stand-ups, sprint plans, sprint reviews, and retros

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience in accounting, finance, product ops, consulting, or strategy & ops
  • Systems thinker able to independently carry out rigorous, actionable analysis
  • Highly capable with Google Sheets and most modern tech tools
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to effectively discuss technical concepts with stakeholders and colleagues across every function of the business
  • Successful at navigating ambiguity and a fast-paced, rapidly evolving work environment
 
Nice to haves
  • People management experience
  • Active or recently lapsed CPA license
  • Experience working directly with Software Engineers
  • Comfort or fluency with SQL, Python, Looker

The base pay range target for the role seniority described in this job description is $126,000 - $170,000 in San Francisco, CA. Final offer amounts depend on multiple factors such as candidate experience and expertise, geographic location, total compensation, and market data. In addition to cash pay, full-time regular positions are eligible for equity, 401(k), health benefits, and other benefits; some of these benefits may be available for part-time or temporary positions.
