Purpose of the Role:
Pico is currently seeking candidates for our APAC Senior Counsel role based in our Singapore office. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the legal and regulatory needs of Pico’s APAC operations, including project-based work and/or pan-region work, as well as providing support where needed for legal activities in other regions. The appointed person will provide legal advice and support to internal clients on a variety of legal matters, including day-to-day commercial and corporate generalist work. He/she will be expected to make a significant contribution to the successful management and holistic growth of the APAC business.
Responsibilities and Duties (include but not limited to)
- Prepare and review a variety of commercial and technology agreements such as:
- master service agreements, software licenses, maintenance agreements, exchange agreements, market data and colocation agreements, reseller agreements, outsourcing agreements, procurement agreements, NDAs, professional services agreements, and system access agreements, from both a customer and vendor perspective
- Identify and review jurisdictional and commercial complexities in the region and access how they impact the company's business operations and expansion
- Monitor regulatory developments in the region and coordinate regulatory compliance efforts, including anti-money laundering, ESG, telecom, and EEE
- Oversee/coordinate corporate secretarial services requirements, governance and filings
- Manage compliance with, and issues related to, privacy and data protection laws
- Other projects as needed such as transactional work, form document review/library, property matters, and HR/employment matters
Education, Skills and Background (incl. Education and Experience Requirements)
- 15+ years relevant post-qualification experience in general commercial legal matters (focus on finance and technology) in a reputable law firm and/or corporation -- preference for 7+ years in-house experience
- Significant experience with international business operations and cross border issues; experience supporting operations outside APAC preferred
- Strong business acumen with a focus on providing business-orientated legal solutions
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills and extremely detail oriented
- Excellent organizational, prioritization and time management skills
- Able to act both collaboratively and autonomously with confidence in making decisions based on accurate and timely legal interpretations
- Strong work ethic, comfortable working in an entrepreneurial organization where cooperating with others and being a team member is essential
- Highest standards of ethics and integrity
- Flexibility and willingness to work on a broad variety of legal and compliance matters
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment and a very hands-on, roll up your sleeve’s atmosphere
- Bilingual in English and Mandarin/Korean/Japanese to support native APAC clients
Working Arrangements
This is a Hybrid position with weekly time in the office with the flexibility of working from home. Though travel may be required from time to time, it is not expected to be regular or frequent. The role holder will be expected to work whatever hours are necessary for the performance of this role (recognizing that it involves multiple jurisdictions/geographies including but not limited to EMEA, USA and APAC).
