Job Summary

Product Support Engineer (PSE) will provide:

Strategic Customer Sales Support - PSE will be responsible for working directly with customers, sales engineers, and channel partners to help them understand and select, as well as troubleshoot and apply high tech products in automation and controls systems. The PSE will also focus on long term strategic support plans to arrive at an end goal of providing complete customer satisfaction and delivering a positive experience when selecting and applying Phoenix Contact high-tech products.
Technical Product Sales Training – The PSE will assist the Product Marketing Manager to lead high-level technical training to our customers, sales engineers, and channel partners.
Focus Product Portfolio – Products categorized under the Power Reliability umbrella. These include power supplies, UPS, diodes, surge protection and breakers.

Key Responsibilities

Identify and troubleshoot problems with industrial control systems
Develop, document and implement customer focused support strategies for the US market
Create and present technical training for both internal and external customers
Analyze support trends for power reliability focused products (power supplies, UPS, diodes, surge protection and breakers) and present to management on a regular basis
Develop and maintain a basic understanding of industrial networking and communication technologies. Specific knowledge in Industrial Ethernet Protocols: Profinet, EtherNet/IP, and Modbus TCP
Document customer inquiries in CRM system to provide customer and sales team detailed summary of required action to meet customer needs
Work to continually improve the support process for power-focused products and standards
Qualify and gather input for system design through functional specification review or by direct customer interaction with minimal guidance
Represent Phoenix Contact as a subject matter expert in industry activities such as trade shows, conferences, customer visits, social media and forums as required to gain closer access to industry trends

Must-Have Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years industrial automation experience, 10 years preferred

Working knowledge and experience with industrial automation products (hardware or software)
Ability to communicate technical concepts and principles to non-technical people orally and in writing
