Job Summary
The Electrical Sales Engineer (ESE) provides expertise for all products within the Device Connector division and a working understanding of control cabinet products to offer solutions for customers. You will develop and execute strategic and tactical plans that support the sales and marketing objectives of the US Subsidiary and the Device Connector Segment, increase Phoenix Contact's brand awareness and market share through the growth of assigned accounts and the development of new customers and lead and direct local channel activities to support and develop business.
Key Responsibilities
- Meet/exceed sales growth objectives as established by your Regional Sales Manager.
- Be proficient at applying selling skills to build strong customer relationships.
- Demonstrate technical competence on all products/solutions within the area of focus to support customers.
- Work independently to manage and develop channel partners by utilizing joint sales activities, training, and mutual action plans with assigned distributor locations.
- Drive value-added/custom solutions within assigned account base, comprised primarily of electronic OEM and EMS accounts.
- Achieve high sales activity, targeting 16-20 sales calls/customer meetings per week.
- Use a CRM as the primary customer planning, reporting, measurement, and opportunity tracking tool.
- Maintain all corporate policies, procedures, reports, and programs, including quotations, and lead follow-up
Must-Have Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a technical discipline
- 3+ years of proven success in Industrial and Electronic Sales required.
- Experience managing sales through distribution channels is a plus.
- Outstanding communication skills – written, verbal, and listening.
- Self-motivated with the ability to learn and adapt quickly.
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.

Must Be Able To…
- Travel via airplane.
- Have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate an automobile for up to six hours at a time.
- Lift a minimum of 50 lbs. (sample, demos, literature)
- Travel overnight 35% + or as dictated by assigned territory.
- Comply with company dress code guidelines.
- Be Punctual.
