Phelps currently has an opening for a Team Leader (Account Director) to lead a talented team of marketing communication specialists in our client-centric integrated marketing communication environment.

In order to be considered for this role candidates must have at least 10+ years advertising agency experience with 5 years’ experience in account management role with a focus on direct response, digital marketing strategy aligning communications across paid, owned and earned media.

Responsibilities and duties

  • Primary point of contact with client
  • Works with client-based team and client to lead all strategic endeavors from both a thinking and executional perspective
  • Works closely with the client and team to lead the creation of budgets, timelines/schedules, briefs and other guidance documents
  • Leads the satisfactory preparation and timely delivery of all client materials by orchestrating the day-to-day responsibilities of self-directed team members across multiple disciplines 
  • Demonstrates an overarching understanding of the digital marketing landscape including analytics, SEO, User Experience, web development, content strategy, and paid media integration 
  • Proactively identifies and solves program execution issues
  • Leads preparation of ongoing program results analyses
  • Ensures best practices are followed pertaining to client communication and project history documentation
  • Creates budget projections and manages budgets; is responsible for approving/managing/tracking billing against projects
  • Responsible for overall account retention, growth and financial performance


  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10 or more years marketing communication/advertising agency experience, with 5 or more years in account management/ account leadership
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing landscape
  • Outstanding organizational, communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prepare clean and concise client-ready documents
  • Strong analytical skills with proven ability to demonstrate interpretation capabilities
  • Strong client relationship and interpersonal skills – must demonstrate empathy and commitment to the client and the agency team
  • Proven ability to manage expectations
  • Solid understanding of account-level finances
  • Expert-level fluency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel
  • Above all, a passion for learning and creating the best materials for our clients
