SUMMARY:
This role will work in conjunction with Machine Operators and Machine Operator Lead in the production of our finished products.  Our Machine Operator will be responsible for the production and packaging of Feed Supplements and nutritional products. This position is an entry-level packaging role that must adhere to quality standards and maintain Current Good Manufacturing Practices and training to applicable standard operating procedures. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Follow PetAg Policies, Standard Operating Procedures and CGMP’s. 
  • Responsible for the canning and packaging of Milk Replacers, Skin Coats and all Milk products into various sizes for domestic and international accounts according to work order and following SAP, GMP, USDA, FDA HACCP regulations 
  • Proven ability to operate our packaging equipment in accordance with plant standards of performance.  
  • Responsible for verifying that the correct lot numbers, expiration dates and quantities are being handled. 
  • Responsible for ensuring the correct weight and correct number of packages are getting packed into the master carton and lot numbers are clearly printed on all types of packages. 
  • Keep up with supply and demand needs of production lines (bring materials from warehouse to staging area to prevent down time of production lines 
  • Have proven ability to operate forklifts, skyjacks, and pass required refresher training. 
  • Help on Filling Lines when needed or as time permits 
  • Must be able to take oral and written instructions and become familiar with all aspects of the working environment. 
  • Disposes of hazardous waste in appropriate containers as instructed by production supervision. 
  • Engage in weekly, monthly, and yearly physical inventory of materials and components. 
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment; wear all required personal protective equipment during the performance of job duties. 
  • Comply with company safety regulations and adhere to company policies and procedures
  • Maintain punctuality and attendance to support the operations schedule. 
  • All other duties as may be assigned 

 QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent  
  • Experience: Previous experience with food / food safety a plus, 6 months to two years in a manufacturing environment preferably a USDA or FDA regulated facility 
  • Other skills: Understand and follow written instructions, perform basic mathematical calculations, actively maintain a high level of personal and team safety, expected to be flexible to constant change in a fast-paced environment, frequently stand, perform repetitive manual dexterity, have both arms and legs accessible and occasionally bend, sit, squat, crawl, walk, and reach above shoulder level.  Lift up to 25 lbs. consistently. Able to safely team-lift heavier objects and operate lifting equipment.  Read and comprehend, write, perform basic mathematic calculations, communicate orally, reason, and analyze.
