POSITION TITLE: Director, Development (Northeast Region)
LOCATION: Hybrid and within proximity to one of the Per Scholas campus’ in the Northeast Region (Boston, Buffalo, Newark, New York City, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh, PA).
REPORTS TO: Vice President, Development - Northeast
OVERVIEW:
Per Scholas is seeking a Senior Manager, Development (Northeast Region) to join our growing development team. You will hold key responsibilities in funder relations, corporate engagement, prospecting, grant writing, individual giving and organizational storytelling. The role is a part of a dynamic national team of development professionals and will work closely with local program staff Directors to meet our revenue targets and grow our programs throughout the Northeast Region (Boston, Buffalo, Newark, New York City, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh, PA).
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Develop and implement a fundraising strategy, in partnership with the VP, Development, to grow revenue in the Northeast
- Lead identification and cultivation of relationships with new corporate, foundation, government, and individual funding sources with potential to support our work in the Northeast, and work closely with the Managing Director(s), VP, Development (Northeast), and National Leadership Team to cultivate opportunities to awards
- Lead on development of concepts and proposals to be submitted to major investors, including corporate, foundation, and government sources
- Ensure timely and compelling stewardship reporting to donors in the regional portfolio, in collaboration with account managers
- Synthesize information from program staff and Salesforce database to articulate goals, activities, anticipated outcomes, successes, challenges, etc. to funders
- Gain sufficient knowledge of markets in the Northeast Region to convey a compelling vision for assigned campuses and Per Scholas’ value proposition within each local market
- Research and analyze both internal and external sources of data (on the tech industry, employment and labor data, demographics, workforce development/training, etc.), effectively incorporating this information into written deliverables and sharing with broader development team
- Work with local program teams to forecast budget projections for campuses in the Northeast in collaboration with the VP, Development
- Develop resources and coordinate and support outreach by leaders across campuses in the Northeast, including but not limited to messaging, emails, talking points, decks, one-pagers and external facing collateral
- Engage in individual donor activities including events, donor campaigns, and other cultivation
- Coordinate and attend key funder meetings and site visits as a representative and ambassador of Per Scholas
- Coordinate with communications staff to leverage communications opportunities for development purposes and ensure consistent language and branding
- Contribute to accurate and up-to-date development record keeping in Salesforce and other development systems, particularly tracking of funder deliverables
- Participate in quarterly Advisory Board meetings and preparing monthly, quarterly and annual reports as requested by the Managing Director(s) and Advisory Board(s)
- Review and edit the work of other staff members, including Development Managers and Associates, consultants, and communications staff, to accurately reflect the impact and outcomes for the Northeast Region
- Other duties as assigned
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO US:
Professional Requirements
- 7-10 years of grant writing or general development experience
- 3-5 years management experience
- Exceptional writing, editing, and copy-editing skills
- Excellent verbal communication skills, both in-person and on phone
- Proven research abilities, including gathering and interpreting data; funder prospecting experience desirable
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Salesforce and Google Apps for Business (Docs, Drive, Gmail, Calendar, Chat, etc.)
- Availability to travel 15-20%
- Capacity to attend key external meetings as the organizational representative

For this role specifically, we are targeting a salary range of $90,000 - $110,000 where the difference in salary is typically determined by several factors, including geography in which the selected candidate resides, and alignment with qualifications and experience.
