POSITION TITLE: Senior Manager, Development (Northeast Region)
LOCATION: Hybrid and within proximity to one of the Per Scholas campus’ in the Northeast Region (Boston, Buffalo, Newark, New York City, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh, PA).
REPORTS TO: Vice President, Development - Northeast
OVERVIEW:
Per Scholas is seeking a Senior Manager, Development (Northeast Region) to join our growing development team. You will hold key responsibilities in funder relations, corporate engagement, prospecting, grant writing, individual giving and organizational storytelling. The role is a part of a dynamic national team of development professionals and will work closely with local program staff Directors to meet our revenue targets and grow our programs throughout the Northeast Region (Boston, Buffalo, Newark, New York City, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh, PA).
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Lead on development of concepts and funding proposals to be submitted to major investors, including corporate, foundation, and government sources
- Assemble required supplementary materials and budgets in collaboration with Development and Program teams and ensure that all internal and final deadlines are met
- Ensure timely and compelling stewardship reporting to donors in the regional portfolio, in collaboration with Account Managers.
- Identify and research new funding sources: corporate, foundation, government, and individual
- Synthesize information from program staff and Salesforce database to articulate goals, activities, anticipated outcomes, successes, challenges, etc. to funders for campus initiatives
- Gain sufficient knowledge of the markets in the Northeast Region (including Boston, Buffalo, Newark, New York City, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh, PA) to not only convey a compelling vision for each campus, but to also articulate Per Scholas’ value proposition and positioning within each local market
- Research and analyze both internal and external sources of data (on the tech industry, employment and labor data, demographics, workforce development/training, etc.), effectively incorporating this information into written deliverables and sharing with broader development team
- Develop resources and coordinate and support outreach by leaders across campuses in the Northeast (including but not limited to messaging, emails, talking points, and external facing collateral aligned with existing and anticipated funding opportunities)
- Cultivate relationships with new corporate, foundation, government, and individual funding sources
- Engage in individual donor activities including events, donor campaigns, and other cultivation
- Coordinate and attend key funder meetings and site visits as a representative and ambassador of Per Scholas
- Coordinate with communications staff to leverage communications opportunities for development purposes and ensure consistent language and branding
- Prepare slide decks, one-pagers, and other collateral as needed.
- Contribute to accurate and up-to-date development record keeping in Salesforce and other development systems, particularly tracking of funder deliverables.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO US:
Professional Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent practical experience) required
- 5-7 years of grant writing or general development experience
- Exceptional writing, editing, and copy-editing skills
- Excellent verbal communication skills, both in-person and on phone
- Proven research abilities, including gathering and interpreting data; funder prospecting experience desirable
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Salesforce and Google Apps for Business (Docs, Drive, Gmail, Calendar, Chat, etc.)
- Capacity to attend key external meetings as the organizational representative

For this role specifically, we are targeting a salary of $85,000/year, with a range between $85,000/year and $90,000/year, where the difference in salary is typically determined by several factors, including geography in which the selected candidate resides, and alignment with qualifications and experience.
