Job Description

We are hiring experienced Android developers to help us build the next-generation version of Scruff and Jack’d. We are a small, agile, nimble company, so the ability to make an impact is significant. The position is 40 hours per week and ongoing/full-time.

What you'll do:

  • Kotlin-first Android code
  • Test and behavior-driven development using JUnit 5
  • Clean architecture using dependency-injection and functional & reactive programming
  • Modern UIs with a live style guide and Jetpack Compose
  • Work in an agile team with Product, Design, Support, and Marketing to respond to our users' needs
  • Help develop solutions end to end, from the design, to requirements, coding, refactoring, delivering, and maintenance
  • Be a good communicator using pair and mob programming across a global team
  • Ability to learn and develop other technologies - iOS, React, and/or Ruby on Rails backend
  • Develop production-ready code serving millions of users right away

Qualifications

Who you are:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in computer science, related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 6+ years of software development experience
  • 4+ year of Android app development experience
  • Experience using design and architecture patterns
  • Strong knowledge of Kotlin with the Android SDK
  • Experience using RxJava or Kotlin Flow
  • Good sense of usability and product for mobile apps
  • Strong sense of ownership, ability to work independently, and proven track record of driving products
  • Shipped consumer Android apps, ideally available on Google Play

Bonus if you have experience with:

  • MVVM Architecture and Android Architecture Components
  • Swift and iOS frameworks
  • Full stack technologies like Ruby, SQL, Linux, React Native, and AWS
  • CI/CD systems such as Bitrise
  • Advanced animations
  • Data-driven decision-making

Salary: $70,000 to $135,000
