Summary:

Responsible for developing product assortments at the category level and key sub-categories to achieve sales and profit objectives. The Buyer will collaborate with marketing, design, e-commerce, and store teams to build effective assortments and merchandising strategies for both retail stores and the e-commerce site. From a product perspective, the Buyer will enhance the overall customer experience in-store and online by monitoring assortments to maintain a consistent brand image while meeting and exceeding sales and margin goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute merchandising strategies and seasonal line plans to create profitable assortments that meet or exceed margin goals.
  • Understand the target customer by analyzing retail stores and online competition; provide competitive analysis to refine brand strategies and identify opportunities.
  • Generate and communicate product knowledge and strategies to store associates and the e-commerce team.
  • Provide visual tools (e.g., line lists, look books, merchandising guides) to stores, online platforms, and planning teams to ensure a unified vision at the point of sale.
  • Train and develop junior staff members.
  • Analyze retail sales and margins to identify opportunities for improving inventory turnover.
  • Develop strategies to increase margins and average unit retail (AUR).
  • Create and implement pricing strategies, including appropriate markdown cadences.
  • Build and recommend product assortments by delivery date.
  • Develop core programs and key items.
  • Coordinate buy meetings and schedule calendar dates to ensure timely placement of orders.
  • Work with planning teams to manage inventory flow and receipts.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on key metrics to track performance and meet inventory turnover and revenue goals.
