Position Summary

The ideal candidate recruited for the role of Scientist I, will be the part of Quality Control Microbiology team to prepare Microbial strain bank development and handling, Microbiological analysis of fermentation samples, and finished products, Isolation, identification and purification of microbial isolates, statistical analysis of data and documentation. Execute all aspects of Quality control department plans and programs. Take initiatives in learning, collaborating with user departments to full fill their requirements.

 What You Will Do

  • Media preparation, Growth Promotion Test/Growth Inhibitory Test for culture media.
  • Sub-culturing, Inoculum preparations and maintenance of reference microbial cultures
  • Isolation, purification, identification, and characterization of microbial strains (Bacterial, Yeast and Fungal,), using basic microbiology techniques such as plating, inoculation, counting, biochemical testing etc.
  • Microbial strain bank development (Master cell bank and working cell bank), handling and maintenance of microbial strains
  • Microbial Limit Test/ Bioburden analysis (TAMC, TYMC and pathogen test) and Bacterial endotoxin test for raw material, finished products as per USP, BP, EP and IP standard.
  • Water analysis and Environmental Monitoring for Laboratories and clean rooms.
  • Microbiological testing of in process samples from upstream, downstream, and finished products as per FDA/ISO standard methods
  • Host cell contamination in fermentation derived finished products
  • Performing in DNA extraction, PCR, Agarose gel electrophoresis, Native and SDS PAGE.
  • Able to use statistical analysis tools to perform data trending
  • Makes detailed observations, analyzes data and interprets results
  • Knowledge on GMP documentation (e.g. investigations, procedures, change controls, CAPA)
  • Drafting the technical documents such as SOPs and protocols with direct supervision
  • Operate laboratory equipment safely and effectively
  • Inventory Management
  • Escalate issues professionally and on a timely basis
  • Maintain environmental awareness and follow hygiene and environmental procedures
  • To co-ordinate work with other functions / departments to achieve project objectives

What You Bring

  • Microbial strain bank development (Cryo preservation), handling and maintenance of microbial strains (BSL class 1, 2) at 4 ◦C and -80 ◦C
  • Should have good experience in GLP/GMP documentation.
  • Isolation, purification, microscopic identification, screening and characterization of microbial strains (Fungal, Bacterial and yeast), using basic microbiology techniques such as plating, inoculation, counting, biochemical testing etc.
  • Microbiological analysis of finished products /intermediate product/water samples under aseptic conditions and microbial load analysis
  • DNA extraction and PCR analysis
  • Excellent knowledge in MS Office and other basic knowledge computer system
  • Inventory Management, Documenting routine laboratory procedures (SOPs) and company guidelines.
  • Basic knowledge on LIMS software.

Education, Experience & Other Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in microbiology.
  • 2-3 years of experience in R&D or industry operations.
  • Possess a basic knowledge on Quality Control departmental activity in line with GLP / GMP

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

 Good knowledge on Microsoft power point and excel for making updates, templates for data compilation.
