About the Role & Team

As part of the team, you will work closely with smart, friendly, dedicated individuals across various departments and teams, such as Product Management, Technical Product Management, Engineering, Release Management, IT, Marketing and Customer Support determined to deliver some of the best apps the market has to offer.

We are looking for a Performance Engineer to join our Performance Engineering team under the SRE department, to work cross-functionally, and be the front line for performance improvements and reduction of performance-related issues across services and applications. This role will be immersed in SDLC requirements and the creation and adoption of performance-related frameworks and standards.

About the Work

As a Performance Engineer in our SRE department, you will play a crucial role in driving quality excellence and enhancing customer satisfaction. Your responsibilities will be divided into two primary focus areas:

Service Level Focus:

  • Apply Performance Engineering principles across core services, platform services, and application services to ensure optimal performance and scalability at the service level.
  • Drive the development and implementation of performance strategies that include early performance testing adoption, detailed test analysis, tuning, and architecture refinement across various service verticals.
  • Provide technical recommendations on environment setup, performance testing techniques, key SLOs/SLAs metrics, as well as on platform hardware, and scalability solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with service teams to identify performance bottlenecks, areas for performance tuning, and opportunities to improve scalability within the architecture.

System Level Focus:

  • Support comprehensive end-to-end performance tests during product releases and major launches.
  • Improve stability of the end-to-end performance tests and enhance these tests with realistic workloads and diverse datasets to accurately mimic production workload.
  • Continuously test, assess, and improve the performance, scalability, and reliability of our products.
  • Partner with other SRE, product and service teams to improve performance observability by developing real-time performance dashboards, and establishing alerts to ensure continuous transparency for stakeholders.

Core Technical Skills:

  • Experience in working with containerization and orchestration technologies, with a preference for Docker & Kubernetes.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, particularly GCP and/or AWS.
  • Proficient with one of the following programming languages is required: Python, Go, JavaScript, or Java.
  • Proficient with one of the performance testing tools that focus on developer experience, such as Grafana k6, Gatling, Locust, and other equivalent tools.
  • Experience in utilizing CI/CD pipelines to design and implement automated performance tests.
  • Experience in observability using APM tools, with a preference for Dynatrace or Datadog; however, experience with other APMs such as New Relic, AppDynamic and Splunk is also highly valued.
  • Prior experience with cross-browser and mobile end-user performance and client-side monitoring is highly desirable.
  • A computer science degree or equivalent education experience.
  • Nice to have: Terraform, Kafka, Prometheus, Chaos testing, Database performance optimization.
