We are hiring a Product and Privacy Counsel to help shape our approach to privacy and product compliance, advising the business as we launch new products and features, and expand our user base across the world. Reporting to our Global Privacy and Data Protection Counsel, you'll be the first hire on this growing part of our legal team. With that, you will have a significant impact on how Pendo’s products work and grow, and have many opportunities to stretch and grow in your career here. Responsibilities
- Review and advise Pendo’s engineering and product teams on new products and features from early stages of development through launch by assessing legal risks while providing pragmatic legal advice
- Partner with engineering and product teams to identify the risks and rewards associated with new products and features, and strategies
- Support and maintain a privacy compliance program that scales to meet changing global regulations.
- Be one of Pendo’s experts on issues related to privacy, product compliance, AI regulations, and more.
- Partner with the commercial legal team in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating data privacy and other commercial agreements.
- Develop training materials and conduct training sessions for product and business teams
Minimum Qualifications:
- JD and member of the applicable state bar in good standing.
- At least 4+ years of law firm and/or in-house experience preferably in a B2B environment.
- Ability to internalize the business's priorities, think creatively, exercise judgment, and translate legal requirements into actionable (and flexible) advice
- Familiarity with global privacy laws
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage projects effectively
- A learning mindset and comfort operating in the gray
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience counseling technology product teams, especially those building B2B and artificial intelligence products and services.
- Experience counseling on global privacy compliance and emerging regulations and best practices in artificial intelligence.
- An ability to translate between business and technical risk and communicate clearly to business and technical constituencies.
- Expertise in managing defensive, proactive, and affirmative legal strategies in litigation and investigations.
- Roll-up your sleeves attitude to tackle projects large and small and a collaborative, low-ego approach to collaborating across the organization.
- Deep interest in machine learning technology and applications.

Compensation
Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry, and are one part of many compensation, benefits and other reward opportunities we provide.
The expected base salary range for this role in the following location is:
Raleigh, NC - USD $149,000 - $178,000
New York, NY - USD $157,000 - 186,840
US Nat’l - USD $149,000 - $178,000
Individual pay rate decisions, including offers made within and over the expected salary range, are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company.
