The Role
The Cash Application Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely posting of all cash, checks, credit cards, and electronically transferred funds to customer accounts following established policies, practices, and procedures for Peloton Commercial. This position is also responsible for posting adjustments and journal entries as requested by management as well as assisting with account reconciliations and other research projects as needed.
The Cash Application Specialist must have strong attention to detail and good analytical skills. This position requires the ability to research and resolve payment discrepancies involving misapplication of funds, unapplied payments, over-payments and/or inability to locate customer accounts. The Cash Application Specialist reports to the Commercial Credit Manager and interacts with other members of the credit department, accounts payable, accounting, sales and other departments as needed.
Responsibilities
- Daily application of incoming cash, checks, wires and ACH payments
- Post payments to CMS and NetSuite
- Release orders, renew subscriptions and update customer accounts in Sales Force
- Provide support and written documentation as required to support cash application for audits
- Research payments received that do not have adequate remittance details, working with others as needed to ensure all payments are posted to the correct account in a timely manner
- Perform account adjustments and journal entries as requested by management
- Assist with department reporting, including weekly A/R metrics
- Act as a backup to the Global Cash Application Specialist (Precor entities)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting or equivalent education and experience
- 3-5 years experience in finance, accounts receivable and/or cash applications
- Experience working with a lockbox
- Excellent communication skills; proven ability to communicate effectively with internal and external business partners at various level in a clear and concise manner
- Continuous improvement mindset
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to deal with ambiguity
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
- ERP experience desired, SAP experience a plus
